David playing saxophone jams with Bill Wyman, Keith Moon and Ron Wood for a couple of songs at Peter Sellers' Birthday Party. 1979 APRIL - 'The First Concert Of The Eighties'
WKCR-FM benefit concert. David Bowie and John Cale join Steve Reich and Philip Glass in their show 'The First Concert Of The Eighties'. They perform one number, a John Cale composition entitled 'Sabotage'. David Bowie (Viola), Gregor Kitzis (1st Violin).
1980 APRIL - Iggy Pop European Tour
David jumps on stage and performs on keyboards for two numbers with Iggy Pop's band.
1983 MAY - The US Festival
David receives a fee of $1 million for appearing at The US Festival during The Serious Moonlight World Tour.
1983 JUNE - Brixton Neighbourhood Community Association Charity Show
David raises over £90,000 with this special charity one-off performance during The Serious Moonlight World Tour.
1984 SEPTEMBER - MTV Video Music Awards
A special afternoon performance with 'David Bowie and The Aliens' in aid of the MTV Awards.
1985 MARCH - Tina Turner 'Private Dancer' World Tour
David's duet with Tina Turner included the songs 'Tonight' and a 'Let's Dance' medley that started off with the Chris Montez song of the same name. The first performance on the 23rd was filmed by HBO for a US TV special and later a video release.
1985 JULY - Live Aid
David rehearsed a total of seven songs for the Live Aid Show. He performed 'TVC15', 'Rebel Rebel', 'Modern Love' and "Heroes". David dropped 'Five Years' in favour of a video screen showing the BBC news broadcast report by Michael Buerk from Ethiopia of the famine disaster.
David's backing band for the performance was: Kevin Armstrong (lead Guitar and backing Vocals), Neil Conti (Drums), Matthew Seligman (Bass Guitar), Thomas Dolby (Synthesizers and Keyboards), Clare Hurst (Saxophone), Pedro Ortiz (Percussion), Tessa Niles and Helena Springs (Backing Vocals).
David also joined in a rendition of The Beatles' 'Let It Be' along with Paul McCartney, Bob Geldof, Pete Townshend and Alison Moyet. For the finale David also sang the opening lines of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'
1985 NOVEMBER - Impromptu Set
David appeared on stage at the China Club in New York City - the event was drummer Steve Ferrone's birthday party. On that night they all decided to stage an impromptu jam session but were in need of a guitarist, so David phoned up Ron Wood of The Rolling Stones and 20 minutes later he turned up. The jam lasted for over an hour, singing hit after hit. The band consisted of: David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Ronnie Wood, Stevie Winwood, Carlos Alomar, Carmine Rojas and Steve Ferrone.
1986 JUNE - The Prince's Trust: The Birthday Party
For the Prince's Trust 10th Birthday Party, David and Mick Jagger perform 'Dancing In The Street' along with an all-star backing band that included: Paul McCartney, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Mark King, Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Howard Jones and Bryan Adams.

SPECIAL GUESTS: Frank Black, The Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Robert Smith, Lou Reed and Billy Corgan. All proceeds from the show were donated to the Save The Children charity organisation.

*31st Dec: The Gisborne 2000 'First Light' Festival was to feature David Bowie, Split Enz, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Apparently, David had written a special 'Millennium Song' that he had planned to perform at the concert. Four months earlier, on 9th August, the management representing David Bowie and Split Enz cited their conviction that "the promoters do not have the ability or financing to compete the necessary infrastructure, production and marketing arrangements required for a safe and successful Festival. It is a great disappointment to the artists that Year 2000 Festival Entertainment Company Ltd. cannot meet their obligations. All concerned have postponed this decision to the last possible moment in the hopes that the Promoters would be able to solve their internal problems. Unfortunately, they have not."

2000 JULY - Yahoo! Internet Music Awards
David Bowie (Vocals) and Mike Garson (Keyboards). Two songs were performed: 'Wild Is The Wind' and 'Life On Mars?'. David received the '2000 Online Pioneer Honoree' and BowieNet won 'Best Artist Site'.
2001 FEBRUARY - Tibet House US Benefit Concert
David Bowie (Vocals), Philip Glass (Keyboards), Tony Visconti (Bass), Moby (Guitar), Sterling Campbell (Drums) and a four-piece string section. Two songs were Performed: "Heroes" and 'Silly Boy Blue'. David and the band also joined in with Patti Smith on the final encore of 'People Got The Power'.

2002 MAY - The Robin Hood Foundation Auction
David was asked to perform 'America' before The Robin Hood Foundation auction started. He sang a solo performance to a backing track. The event took place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. The evening was opened by Billy Crystal with Diane Sawyer acting as MC. The celebrity auctioneer was Mike Myers.
2005 SEPTEMBER - 2005 Fashion Rocks Awards
David performed 'Life On Mars?' with Mike Garson on keyboards. Later, Arcade Fire backed David on 'Five Years' which then segued into 'Wake Up'.

Special surprise appearance with David performing two encore songs - 'Arnold Layne' and 'Comfortably Numb'.

2006 NOVEMBER - The 3rd Annual KCA Black Ball
David performs three songs: 'Wild Is The Wind' (with Mike Garson on piano), 'Fantastic Voyage (backed by Alicia Keys' band) and 'Changes' (duet with Alicia Keys).
Hosts Alicia Keys and Iman were joined by KCA founder Leigh Blake, emcee Wanda Sykes and honourees Richard Beckman, Dr. Paul Farmer and Partners in Health, and "Mama" Carol Dyanti. Other musical performers were Alicia Keys, Damian Marley and Louis XIV.
The Black Ball is an annual fundraiser for KCA (Keep A Child Alive). The non-profit organisation which brings dignified treatment, care and support to children and families affected by HIV.
2007 MAY - The H&M High Line Festival
David performs a section of 'Pug Nosed Face'. The audience join in with an impromptu sing-a-long and he then introduces comedian Ricky Gervais onto the stage.
It was initially reported that David would be curating and performing at the festival, but on 22nd January 2007 it was announced that: "...due to ongoing work on a new project that it will not be possible for him to perform. He will however continue to curate the event alongside producers David Binder and Josh Wood."
The festival ran for 11 days from 9th May to 19th May, with artist performances at various venues around New York including Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Irving Plaza.
Invited performers included: Air, Arcade Fire, Bang On A Can, Claude Cahun, Daniel Johnston, Deerhoof, Dirty Projectors, Ken Nordine, Laurie Anderson, Laurie McLeod, Legendary Stardust Cowboy, Meow Meow, Mike Garson, Ricky Gervais, Robert Stillman's Horses, Spanish Film Retrospective, The Polyphonic Spree, The Secret Machines and many more. Other events included: High Line Neighbourhood Walking Tours, HighLine Design Preview and 'David Bowie's Ten Favourite Latin American and Spanish Films From The Last 100 Years'.
